11/20, Decorative Soldering Class
11/20, Decorative Soldering Class
Date: Thursday, November 20th: 5 - 8:30 pm
Have you ever wanted to advance in your stained-glass skills? We have decided to offer a decorative soldering class. For those of you who have taken a beginners stained glass class, you already have most of the tools needed to start adding bling to your pieces.
In this class, you will learn how to wire a suncatcher (for stability and strength) then add decorative solder to really make it stand out. We will also demonstrate how to add decorative wire details and stamping. While class may not permit you to finish (patina/ polish) your piece, you will go home with the knowledge needed to start a whole new chapter in your stained-glass journey. Just imagine, you could embellish your stained-glass panels, make jewelry, and so many amazing sun catchers!
We will also provide a simple pattern for the butterfly pictured, as well as a flower. You will need to cut, grind and foil all your pieces BEFORE CLASS. This will give you the needed time to wire and do the decorative soldering, which can be time-consuming.
BRING: soldering iron, solder, flux, flux brush, sponge and needle-nose pliers.
Included: Pattern for butterfly, tinned wire, jump ring, temperature control box (rheostat) for use in class and 18” blackjack chain. No shorts or open-toed shoes.
Teacher: Tonya Schade
