12/20, The Great Lakes Lamp Class
12/20, The Great Lakes Lamp Class
Date: Saturday, December 20th, 9:30-12:30 pm
No experience is necessary – just bring your creativity and love of nature!
Join Tonya for a relaxing and fun 3-hour class to create your own illuminated glass lamp inspired by the Great Lakes. You’ll design a serene shoreline with trees, grasses and the rocky, sandy textures we all love along our beloved Great Lakes.
If you’d like to include a sailboat in your design, a pattern will be provided for youto score one, or Tonya will cut it out for you. (Note: scoring will not be taught in this class)
Under Tonya’s guidance you’ll learn how to layer the grasses and frit to create dimension, as well as how to make realistic trees. After two kiln firings, your lamp will be adhered to the included base and ready to light up. This functional piece will be something you treasure for years to come – or a wonderful handmade gift!
You’ll need to come in well before class to purchase 0.75 sq ft of colored base glass and 0.25 sq ft of each of the three colors needed for the shoreline, water and sky. We’ll have the glass from the demo piece available; if you’d like to use the same colors, let us know ahead of time and we’ll have it ready for you to purchase on the day of class - no need to come in early.
Included: Lamp base, use of our many embellishments, 2 kiln firings, and custom-made stones and boulders especially made for this class.
Bring: glasses, no shorts or open-toed shoes.
